Fit as a Lemon

Keith Lemon & Deanne Berry
Just wanted to share with you all some work I did a few months back. I was asked to do some quick concept art for Keith Lemon's new fitness DVD "Keith Lemon's Fit", featuring the lovely Deanne Berry from the hit music video 'Call on me' by Eric Prydz. Very satisfying to see they followed the outfit I gave him in the sketch and polished off the titles I designed for it as specified in the brief. Had a good chat with the Director Paul Angunawela developing and discussing ideas, it also helps when your old friends. It was a pleasure working with him again and some of you may know that he contributed some writing to my Art Book last year.

I was pleasantly surprised to get the thumbs up from the man himself via a phone call. "Fanks alot Keif, nice one!".
Released on DVD through Lionsgate on November 22nd 2010.

Against Interpretation

"Against Interpretation" was the title of the 1st Visual arts exhibition of CASA Latin American Theatre Festival 2010, which has now come to an end. This ran alongside the selection of theater performances from El Salvador, Colombia, Argentina and Uruguay.

Against Interpretation was an exhibition that "eludes the disparity of contemporary Latin American culture to show unified works whose momentum is so rapid, whose address is so direct that the work can simply be…. It is showcasing exciting Latin American, London based artists", such as:

Carlos Martyn Burgos (El Salvador ) www.memakestuff.com
Marina Cobra (Brazil) www.marinacobra.com
Marcelo Duchen Rodriguez (Bolivia)
Ofelia Diaz, (Venezuela) www.ofeliadiaz.com
Juan Carlos Farah , (Peru) juancarlosfarah.com
John Angel Rodriguez (Colombia) www.angelroka.webs.com
Otto Schade (Chile) www.ottoschade.com

Curated by Nina Brazzo and Diana Aramayo
A powerful image by Chilean artist Otto Schade

A great piece by Colombian artist John Angel Rodriguez

On the opening night, curator Ninna Brazzo dedicated an amazing poem written by herself to all the artists participating. I wanted to share it here as I think it's beautifully written and expressed.

Against Interpretation

Nina Alexia Brazzo Curatorship dedication to the artists:

The Time Of Times Will Come

These are times of more medicines
But less healthiness
More conveniences
But less time
More knowledge
But less judgement

When there is much in the window
But nothing in the room
Surpass the idea of content
Rise above the perennial interpretation.

No more poisoned sensibilities
No more revenge of the intellect
No more article for use
To the loss of sharpness in our sensory experience

Is this you?
Is this me?
Is this humanity?

This is not a gesture of the mind situated in some timelessness realm of capabilities
Attain alertness
Dispel the separateness
We can be together
Joint because under the creator we are one
Within boundaries we find expansion

Fighting the nafs of the subconscious
Yearning to return back to our innocence
Direct yourself to me
Free yourself from the itch to interpret
Freedom. Happiness. Simplicity.
Cultivate inside and out
Elude the otherness of contemporary culture and
simply
Be.

"THE PILL I NEED"

The Pill I Need
"THE PILL I NEED" is the title of this sketch.  Things, people or moments that give us that high or extra bounce in our step. Without it would bring us on a downer... real or not.

Well... that's one explanation anyway. (^_^)

Toys Galore!

As you can see I finally put toys in! I highlighted them in white so you can see them. Placing them has been time consuming as I didn't want to throw off the composition. For now this is it, but whether it will stay THIS way... I still don't know. The girls toys seem nicely cluttered, but not to much. The  composition of the boys toys still needs a little more tweaking.

The layout of the front of the T-Shirt is pretty much done, you can see this in the mini video I put up in my previous post. Once the final layout is done for both sides of the T-Shirt, I can then work on cleaning it up and maybe add some colour. (Video Link)

That's it for now folks!

BANKSY let loose on The Simpsons

Episode: MoneyBart, will be shown in the UK on 21 October.

Banksy was tracked down and asked to storyboard the famous Simpsons couch intro. Apparantly the first time an artist, not an employee of Fox etc, has been asked to storyboard any given sequence of the show. And as most of Banksy's work, will cause quite a stir as I'm sure it did when he submitted the storyboard.
I really like it, but take a look for yourselves.

Also not sure if it was a Banksy piece or not but recently there was this great image sprayed under a billboard opposite West Hampstead Station that I think has now been painted over. I'm glad I managed to take this picture when I did back in May!

Here's another piece of urban art.
West Hampstead Stormtroopers
A paste-up that also popped up around West Hampstead. Unfortunately its been torn and ripped... but here's a pic to how it looked in all its glory taken by n8kowald!

Writing in the speech bubble on the right seems to be a logo that says: 'sup:peeps!

"MY INNER CHILD" is getting impatient.

Developing the Concept...
Here's a quick update on "MY INNER CHILD" T-Shirt concept.

Seriously looking in to ways of getting these printed once the design has been completed to make it available to all who want one at a good price and good quality. Been looking around and in some places the cost is too high, especially as it's printed on both sides.

Due to time not being as abundant as I would like, I'm still playing with the design and colours etc, I can be a tad obsessive with certain things as I know what I want. Anyway, I will be concentrating on getting the design done and dusted the next couple of weeks. I don't see this as a simple T-shirt idea, it has many other options as I mentioned in a previous post. A choice for Girl or Boy as well as other details and personalization options, but all in good time.

Retro Photos on my iphone 3Gs

A One Chance Only Moment...

Having taken some much deserved time off for myself, I had time to play with a really cool iphone app called HIPSTAMATIC. Camera phones are never a replacement for a really good camera, but because of their size and convenience can be useful and produce some nice impromptu shots when walking around etc.

HIPSTAMATIC is an application for the iphone that emulates the old retro camera effects or toy cameras with cheap plastic lenses. These by accident used to produce some interesting results.

Within the application you can change the lenses for different effects and also the type of film for different borders etc. You can also purchase additional lenses and films within the app.

What i liked about it it was also what sometimes you may hate about it, the fact that you don't know what you are going to get, if you don't like the result then you wont always get another chance. Once you have missed that moment, its gone.

It also takes a while to process your photo and ready itself up for the next shot and really drains your battery. But having said all this I really had fun using it as the results are a far cry from the sometimes charmless 'perfect' digital photo results.

The T-Shirt

INNER CHILD - front
INNER CHILD - back

And here's the initial concept for the T-Shirt I've named "MY INNER CHILD"... well, at least one of them anyway.

YOUR inner child sits in a compartment driving/controlling/guiding you via joystick and levers, he peers out through a door with an opening. I'm liking this concept and have a few variations I'm still playing with, you never know, I might go with all of them and you get to pick which one you like (^_^)

I want to put a few toys behind the childs chair so any suggestions are welcome and I'll consider maybe putting them in.

Also there's still time to join in on the print giveaway i'm having over on Facebook, just follow the link below.
